Side-yard interlock walkway

A narrow side yard that was just red mulch and concrete stepping stones — uneven, weedy, hard to walk on with anything in hand. We dug it out, compacted a proper granular base, and laid Techo-Bloc pavers full-width between the house and the fence. New garden bed along the wall ties it into the rest of the property.

A narrow side yard in Mississauga between the house and the fence — red mulch, three settled concrete stepping stones, and a metal gate that swung over weeds. Hard to walk through carrying anything in hand. We dug it out a full eight inches, laid compacted granular base in lifts, and set Techo-Bloc Industria pavers full-width to the fence so the interlock walkway reads as one clean run.

Drainage off the front porch had been kicking water into the yard for years — corrected on the same dig. A small planted garden bed along the wall softens the line back to the rest of the property. One-week build. Most Mississauga interlock failures come back to one thing: the base wasn’t built right. The base is most of the job.

What we worked through

  • Drainage off the front porch had to be corrected
  • Step height brought up to a comfortable rise
  • Curb-cut tied into the existing driveway cleanly

Materials

  • Techo-Bloc Industria pavers
  • 8" compacted granular base
  • Polymeric sand
