Primary bathroom tile refresh
Took a dated primary bathroom — drop-in tub with diamond-tile accent — and rebuilt it around a freestanding tub. New large-format porcelain throughout, marble-look floor, and a brass sputnik chandelier as the room's anchor.
A primary bathroom renovation in Oakville that hadn’t been touched since the original build — dated drop-in tub with a tiled deck, fluorescent vanity light, and a diamond-pattern accent tile that had been adventurous for its time. The homeowners wanted a calm, hotel-style space anchored on one focal point: a freestanding tub under the window.
Three-week build. We pulled everything back to the subfloor, re-waterproofed with Schluter Kerdi from scratch, ran 600x600 porcelain on the walls, marble-look mosaic on the floor, and centred a brass sputnik chandelier over the new tub. The drain had to shift four inches to centre the tile pattern properly — easy to skip, but the kind of detail you see every time you walk into a finished Oakville bathroom renovation.
What we worked through
- Existing waterproofing was failing at the curb
- Drain location had to shift to centre the new pattern
- Schedule held tight to a 3-week window
Materials
- Schluter Kerdi waterproofing
- 600x600 porcelain wall tile, mosaic floor
- Quartz vanity top, undermount sink
